Throughout my dietetic education at MSU of Denver I have had many different and unique assignments. These are a few examples that represent the different aspects and knowledge base that I have gained through my education process.
During my Healthcare Management course I presented the topic of elimination of health disparities through The Affordable Care Act.
Cultural Aspects was a class designed to educate future nutritionists and dietitians on the differences in beliefs, values, and mannerisms of cultures of the world. Toni Lopez and I researched El Salvador and their cultural customs and beliefs as well as their delicious national dish of pupusas.
During my Weight Management class I debunked the common argument of using weight gain as an excuse to not quit smoking.
I researched a paper about trans-fats and the health effects that are attributed to their consumption. Human Nutrition really focused on research techniques and understanding whether the research pertains to valid information.
Understanding statistics and being able to use and associate statistical data is a large aspect of dietetics. During my Statistics class I analyzed the cost of flights based off the perceived view of the public.
